An Educational Experience children will never forget!

School Day: Friday — Admission Free
Friday is dedicated to School Day, and we are planning to have over 1500 children from area schools visit the event. School Day is especially fun for the Reenactors as they hold demonstrations on weapons, clothing, food preparation, and camp living. It's a living history presentation of how both soldiers and civilians lived during the U.S. Civil War.

How it all Began

The Civil War reenactors from Louisiana 26th Company G began holding civil war reenactment battles in conjunction with the Hallsville’s Western Days Celebration in 2008. From a handful of infantry and artillery in 2008, the annual event has grown to include more than 500 reenactors from all over the southern United States.

These reenactors play roles of infantry soldiers, artillery gunners, cavalry, medical corps, civilians and others.

The Festival is a celebration of the way of life for East Texans from the 1850s to the 1950s era. This event offers reenactors in period correct uniforms, horse mounted cavalry and artillery units. With many of the reenactors being avid historians and dedicated to the craft of portraying our diverse history, visitors are encouraged to tour the camps and meet the soldiers.
